Oh! Thank God..!!

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.” ~Melody Beattie Being

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about gratitude.

Gratitude is rather very essential for writers like me of modest means and modest successes. It nourishes the soul and keeps depression at bay. I’m sure that if I didn’t have the capacity to stand in awe before a blue morning sky, to feel wonder at the perfection of a flower, to be grateful for good health, a loving relationship, and the kindness of friends, bitterness would set in and destroy the creativity already under siege in the rather tough slog of literary writing.

I practice a calling that demands honesty, empathy, tact and compassion. It asks me to live my life the way I write, because my conscience is wired in such a way that I can’t divide the quality of my life from the quality of my work. Not an easy task and I don’t always succeed, yet I think of writing as a moral practice which informs my life and gives it meaning.

Life nourishes me enough to remove the sting of bitter failures, rejections and losses and to give the added joy of successes and acceptance. I am a bit naive though.  Everything we have is actually credited to the Almighty. Even our breath we draw is the gift of his love, very moment of existence is a grace, for it brings with it immense graces from him. I won’t make it boring by going deep into philosophy.

Recently, I viewed a video of the life of Nicholas James Vujicic. He has no limbs and yet he has done everything anyone would like to do in his life. He has no regrets for life and still pays gratitude to god. Vujicic promotes his work through television shows and through his writing. His first book, Life Without Limbs: Inspiration for a Ridiculously Good Life was published in 2010. He markets a motivational DVD, Life’s Greater Purpose, a short documentary filmed in 2005 highlighting his home life and regular activities. The second part of the DVD was filmed at his local church in Brisbane – one of his first professional motivational speeches. He markets a DVD for young people titled: No Arms, No Legs, No Worries: Youth Version. Check out the link below to learn more about this amazing personality –

What else does anyone need in life? He is happy and lives with ease and without any worries. And here we on the other hand, are given all the opportunities and facilities but still we crib God for small things saying- “Why me only? What had I done?”. This person is a perfect example for us to learn to pay gratitude to God and keep courage and hopes alive in us always through all the lows.

So, to conclude, all I have to say is that remember that god is creditable for our existence and we should thank him time to time otherwise he will get upset 🙂 And as I always say – LIVE OUT LOUD..!!
